Au Contraire 2013: Regeneration is the 34th National Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, and the second Au Contraire convention. It will be taking place in Wellington from the 12th to the 14th of July 2013 (the last weekend of university holidays) at the Quality Hotel, upper Cuba Street.
The first Au Contraire, in 2010, was initiated by five younger female fans who wished to reboot and reignite the concept of fan conventions in New Zealand. Our principles were affordability, accessibility, and fan creativity. Despite the sub-competence of the organisers, it was a success to match our highest expectations. So with the aid of a few new conscripts recruits, we were crazy enough to try it again.
Au Contraire 2013 will be, we hope, just as much fun as the first one, only better organised. But that'll only happen with fan participation! We invite you to sign up for membership RIGHT NOW, and to consider volunteering to help make it happen.
